bags are (not) packed and (not) ready to go

Status: I have not physically packed my stuff yet.

For some reason everyone in my family, except my well-travelled brother, has this idea that i should be bringing everything just in case - from toilet rolls to rat poison to even a slow cooker.

And they are actually much more frantic and anxious than I am.

Of course I know they mean the best for me, that I'm gonna be away for five months and they feel that the place of stay should be catered to be as home-like as possible.

And also because they have this impression that I might be living in a slum, with terrible sanitary systems and probably eating out from a tincan or cereal box (which i might not cross out in case I really have to!).

It's just heartwarmingly funny :)

Tell me, how is it not when your father comes up to you, in all seriousness and fervour,

"You can go and report to your school log of all those technical nonsense. But you better have a daily log on your diet. I'd take the first flight out if there is any signs of gastronomical problems."

(or something along that line)

I think he was joking. but well, you may never know what drastic, seemingly illogical mindsets parents can have - which children have to accept or at least seem like it :)

Well, at least I did promise him to bring that one toilet roll.

p.s. for those coming by to send their HK shopping lists to us at the airport, the flight that Peter, Ruiming and I are taking is Sunday 14 Sept, 15:45 at T1. Processing depends on our moods and lists are subjected to the weather, personal taxes and if initial payment is made. :)
