Ruiming had put all my family pictures as 'The Herd' on his flickr account.Really. Especially the kids.
Joshua! silly fella you, who has loads of trouble waking up with a smile
Rebecca! whom Gloria and Gen were trying to teach to say Ice-cream; and also who has bigger eyes than me :(Though yes, it is indeed more economical to send all three of us together, it still felt really special. :)
Hope you all are having a pretty great time at your internships and had fine results. I'm starting actual internship (argh!) work tomorrow. *this was written a few days ago before i had internet.
By the way, Jie! I hope that Timothy's feeling better! :(
Anyway, the flight to HK was delayed by about 20 odd minutes. It was a little bumpy and yes, the seats were a little tight for stretching out. Well, considering the $168-ticket, I guess it's pretty much acceptable. At least I'm safe and you can actually hear from me.
Clearing customs were fine too though we three young buggers looking very much like tourists, got tio to get luggages checked. And it is not funny trying to lug 25kg big case and 7kg handcarry onto a conveyor belt.

Oh well, our first purchase using the currency was Krispy Kreme, especially with 10% discount off with passport verification.
We took their Airport Express train to HK Island.
It was a pretty fast ride, considering it crosses over/under the sea to get over from Lantau to HK island.
Was considerably expensive too but guessing our luggages (which might cost $5 per bag, when taking a taxi) and the HK$210 (S$40) between 3 of us for the train ride, we figured we might as well just try.
so usually it takes a few rounds to get it right, thus the extra laughter. At him.
Peter had managed to contact his mom's friend (Shirley i think) who picked us up with her husband (William) to send us to the hostels. The boys went into a cab since the car wasn't big enough for all+luggages, and me in the car.
Mom and dad, you can be glad that I will not be driving in HK. Goodness, there are just too many steep hilly parts on this island - they'll give me multiple heart attacks while driving a manual car.
Thank God for the two of them who really really made sure we were settled properly before leaving, And they live in New Territory, meaning they have probably spent at least their whole evening-night just coming down to the airport and to the hotel to help us. Oh and special thanks to William who helped me carry my heavy luggage up 4 storeys. Yes, we are on the 4th storey. With no lift. Can die.
With our last meals being close to 6-8hours ago, and at the night of 10.30pm, we sad souls bought microwave dinners at the closet 7-11 which this kind grounds-man of the hostel, Chen Bo walked us to. Dinner was officially at 1am. Looking like this.
Sad right.
Ok fine, we also decided to have some of the Krispy Kreme for dessert (before we embark on pathetic living).
My room currently looks like this.
there is another bunk bed, behind this - closer to the window and aircon
Pretty spacious for me, since I'm the single girl in a double-room.
With aircon, bedsheet covers, comforter, Internet and common amenities (bathroom, kitchen) and at a very reasonable cost - it really is rather bearable. Ok, at least for me, so far. The only major gripe is that we can't really cook - no stoves.
Oh and because the hostel is very empty as students will return only in Oct, they have let me stay in the room next door to Peter and Ruiming. :) Like every hostel, there is a segregation of genders - so I would be shifting to the 5th floor in Oct. But meanwhile I'm pretty fine using the male toilet.
By the way, the weather here is HOT. like humid, hazy hot kind of hot. Can die, seriously. Especially when you have to walk almost everywhere, that is also hilly and slopey with many many many steps. We usually all get drenched by the time we get back to the hostel and then cool off under the aircon before we bathe.
Ok got work tomorrow, will be back! Take care all :)
