Ok sorry, this post would disrupt the actual chronological flow of the entries but i just thought this was pretty important. Though sorry, to those who are more sensitive, it's more religion-related.

I went for my first mass at HK today with Peter at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception that is about 20 minutes walk from hostel. English Mass was at 9.30am and it was quite an experience. Also because it really felt odd not to have my nephews, niece and family around.
At every church in the world celebrate Sundays with the same processes and readings, it made one feel at home: the familiarity and bond. Yet, at the same time, it felt fresh and new.
The first opening hymn was something that really spoke to me though.
'You are Near' really just made me remember the very very helpful souls in HK who have helped us through our first week. Be it Groundsman Chen Bo, Kok Wee, the Filipino lady who gave us clarification directions on the mini-bus to Central Library to even the soya bean auntie who tried to answer in basic mandarin (pu tong hua) to let me understand how much I had to pay her for that drink.
These people have helped me (and us), no matter how big or small, to get to where I am (we are) now.
Not to mention the many important people all back at home, keeping in touch - whether obvious in emails or in their prayers for our safety.
Small miracles can happen everyday right? Well, I believe I've been experiencing some great moments then :)
Thank you to you, you, you and many other yous. :)
"Yahweh, I know you are near,
standing always at my side.
You guard me from the foe,
and you lead me in ways everlasting."
