debut of the daily vege box

Today I was really sleepy at work. Maybe cos it's also a terribly slow day at work, with very minimal stories that look news-worthy to do and also cos the system was really slow and that was hindering alot of what the senior writers could do. So the dept was fairly not a happy bunch today.

I had to eat an apple to stay awake in between work.

Oh ya I meant to showcase what I intend to bring everyday to work now! Haha it's a measure to up my intake of fibre everyday, juuuuust in case I am not eating enough fibre. It would incur slightly more costs per week but I guess after a few adjustments, it should be fine :)

So the night before, I went to Wellcome, one of the major supermakets in HK and also one that is along the road that leads to the hostel. After much deliberation, I picked out a bag of baby carrots, a pair of japanese cucumbers and a bag of raisins (ok i know it's like an overdose of raisins, especially since I tend to eat raisin bread for breakfast - easier la).

Packing into a container, it looks like that:

I wanted to add baby tomatoes into the concoction - for antioxidants and also cos look! It'll be so nice to have a spots of red in between the bright colours we already have in the box. But well, I figured that tomatoes get soggy and rotten fast if not consumed soon. Ok maybe I might just interchange it with the cucumber.

Haha the plastic container is really tiny. But it's super handy. It says it can hold about 220ml i think but really, quite cute. Just to let you have some idea how tiny this small box is, here's the vege box in comparison to my toothbrush:

Hahah whhhhhat. It's handy as a healthy snack that can keep me awake at work too ok :) The boys were just laughing at me when I showed them the box.

Well, Ruiming was free enough to go to Mannings (actually our Guardian, but everything's the same - even right down to the corporate colours and font type) to get bandage for his 'costume'. Almost everywhere in HK is gearing up for halloween. Bars, shopping centres, restaurants have bought decor and everything to do up their places. Will get more pictures of those closer towards Halloween ok?

Ya so on the tram back home, Ruiming tries his bandage and well, he can see through that. As long as he doesnt wrap it another round. I'm not even sure if Ocean Park would let him in like that. But he does look pretty scary haha

Oh and because I get the newspapers at work and try to read them at lunch, I usually pass the rest to the boys at night so that they can read them. Here's Peter, ignoring Ruiming and his attempt to test his bandages. Peter usually aims for the Sports section first before reading anything else.

Oh yes another thing. My only pair of sandals that I brought over is in a dangerous state! This is the pair of Novo sandals bought at Suntec, about two years back with Timothy. These made-in-Brazil slippers by Grendene are fully made of rubber and it really has took me everywhere! Ivan calls them the alien slippers.

Sigh it's so sad to see how it's showing up cracks and injuries :/

This is the crack on the right foot, top. It's cutting right through from the back!

See, this is the back of the slipper, on the right.

And here's the back of the slipper on the left. SO SAD!

Cos these are pure rubber, I wear it almost everywhere - in SGP and HK. This sandals have been bringing me to work lately when the blisters arrived - it's pretty decent enough to pass off as okay-footwear but comfy too and Novo doesnt make them anymore :/

Sigh don't hang up on me just yet ok, slipper? You have to kinda tahan a little more until I can find your replacement. WHERE?!

haha wwei! everything for you is either H&M or Uniqlo right! Btw, Ruiming is buying the most things from Uniqlo - i havent bought a thing from there yet AND trying to search for your tshirts, which havent looked any appealing yet :/ Hmm but im looking for sandals-slipper-like things! :(

hahahaha cause H&M is cheap! and since it is a europrean brand, they probably have sandals that we are used to seeing around in Singapore. it's okay, you still have 4 more months to look for them. try ladies' street. there is a hidden building (the wonderful limwwei made the great discovery when she was urgently looking for a place to pee, and that place has to be clean with toilet paper provided) that sells plenty of cheap shoes. BOOTS FOR LIKE, 5 bucks?! I don't know man.

I'll post up a picture of MY healthy lunch box when I remember. I bet you didn't know I had one. It's full of grapes and apples, mostly.

not true! from the look of my sandals, they are screaming 'NOW' or at most like 30 mins of walking timebomb. ladies st would sell like cheap flip flops right? I'm worried those might break with a wear :/ but i'll go one day. my boots weren't 5 bucks! but it's along the st that locals usually buy from.

i know you had a healthy box too. grapes would be expensive (for my current living) and apples are too troublesome to cut! :)
