weekend mission to buy slippers: failed

Today was pretty unplanned.

Morning saw Peter (who was 'late') and I scrambling out of the hostel by 8am thanks to Yang Shu who had to leave early again.

So, like last Sunday, we decided to go to the Macs along the street to have breakfast. Peter bought the Sunday Morning Post so we both managed to get a dose of news since I dont go to work on weekends, the supply of daily papers stops there.

Mass was pretty ok, though this time it was a little hard to keep up with what the speaker was saying since we didnt have the book. We were waiting up for Peter's mom (who was late) before she told us to go in first, thus all the books had already been given out.

So in a cathedral, the sound system has to be pretty niffy. In this case, the echos from the sides and around the cathedral made it a little hard to make out what the speaker was saying. Even as we sat at our usual place, somewhere in the front.

Managed to take a shot, not for commercial use, of the interior of the cathedral, though well, I try not to do so especially during mass times.

After mass, Aunty Joyce wanted a little to eat so we made our way to a nearby deli where she order a cheddar cheese sandwich and tea. Peter had English tea and I had Hot Chocolate since we had already both eaten.

Aunty Joyce kinda insisted Peter to get some rest today so we went back to the hostel after sending her into a taxi. Ruiming wanted Macs so we made the delivery to the boy back in bed.

With the goal and mission to find me a pair of sandals, Ruiming decided that we should try to go to Tsim Sha Tsui. Taking a ferry across, he was awfully happy to be able to find a toy store that was selling those assemble transformer-like figure things called Dinobots - some gorilla and dinosaur ones, which he claims are hard to (or not anymore) find in SGP.

On the walk to find my sandals (in my dangerously threatening ones), I managed to find the same brand of my current one, Grendene from Brazil. BUT the new ones they designed are AWFUL even though it's still comfy. Sigh. Now I really have to search around for other brands :/

But I kinda got distracted heavily by an Esprit outlet along Canton Road. Baaad idea. Cos apparently it was test and training of Ruiming's endurance as I scanned through two floors of Esprit and trying out 5 items. Only to force myself to reduce them to 2. I would have decided to buy this nice black denim skirt but it was equivalent to about S$40 so I gave up on that.

In the end, the winning items were:

A button-up black cardigan, which I have been looking for. It was HK$109 (original HK$299) i think.

Mom! Remember that white corset-looking top that I saw and we both liked at the Esprit outlet last time? In the end I didnt buy it for work cos it was about S$50? I found a whole rack of it in black/white. Even having an offer if you bought two. But I limited myself to get the black one at about HK$149 (original HK$399) i think. :)

We took the ferry and tram to Ramada Hotel to meet Peter, who was there at his mom's hotel, to watch TV - which we dont have haha. Dinner was around the corner, eating quuuuite terrible fried rice, I have to admit.

Aunty Joyce actually in the end booked an extra room for the night for all three of us to stay in, getting the hotel to put in another bed in the room too. But I figured that well, if it's gonna be quite troublesome for Ruiming to be sleeping on the couch (Peter on the Queen, me on the extra) and plus extra towel and all that, then I think it'll make it easier for only two to stay there.

So I decided to stay in the hostel then, since well, I was going to clean up my room and do some laundry today anyway.

So you see Mission Sandals: failed today, again :/ I didnt buy any footwear, or rather I couldnt - many were just too unacceptable! We walked quite a bit today, along Nathan Road and Kimberley Road and everywhere around that area of Tsim Sha Tsui, edging to Tsim Sha Tsui East. Amazingly, we didnt even lunch either.

Sigh, there's work tomorrow and I think I wanna try to sleep early soon, at least before 1am. Goodnight! :)

At the rate you are buying clothes (about 5 pcs per week) - you will way exceed your baggage allowance when you come home.

Amazed your terminally ill sandals are still hanging on. Singapore is debating issue of euthanasia - I'm sure your sandals wish they could die with dignity.

JIE! not always true oook where got 5 pieces per week. there's discipline in between, plus lotsa internal mind-debate that leads on to the final rightful decision. Well, I could alllways send my other stuff by freight first ;)

I KNOW! But seriously, I can't find one that is worth paying for yet! The crack at the side is edging upwards and there's probably less than 5mm left as allowance before it snaps. Pressure! :/
