wednesdays should be everyone's new additional weekend day (Oct 1)

Yes, this is a little backlog that I haven't cleared out yet. It's a post that was meant for last Wednesday. It actually feels good to have Wednesdays as our new weekend day if we could: 3 days weekend, 4 days work. Then it feels awesome to work for 2 days, break then 2 days before the usual weekend! Everyone should petition to all governments to do this :) though everyone would say how it'll affect productivity and blah. *frown

Last wednesday was a public holiday. National Day, which reminded me that I read a really interesting article last Tuesday. This author spoke that that day saw their citizens asmore patriotic than nationalistic - that they could be beaming and be proud of China's current successes (e.g. Olympics) but no one could make them be nationalists.

The morning saw three of us kinda sleeping in, to catch up on sleep lost over the days. Peter woke up to meet his Dad's Godson who was gonna pass him something. Ruiming was suppose to go to work but didnt. In any case, I kinda took that moment to blog the last time.

Late afternoon came by pretty soon, which I bugged the boys to hurry so that we could catch a HK$2.20 (upper deck) Star ferry from Central on HK island to Tsim Sha Tsui at Kowloon. Apparently it is thing that every tourist should do in HK.

This is the type of ferries we were taking

Sky was pretty hazy though the ride was pretty fun - it's almost like a boat trip to Pulau Bukom, but open air :)
We went over there to walk around and catch the fireworks that is said to be really good and happens about twice a year - CNY and National Day. After walking around the streets, armed with bread and a drink (since most places were closed for the public holiday, packed or expensive!), pressured by the crowds moving towards the harbour already, we moved towards the pathway called Hollywood Avenue (that has handprints of the HK stars, like Anita Mui, Jackie Chan, etc.) I think, near the Victoria harbour (which already is packed with people).

These are guests in hotel rooms facing directly at the harbour. More came by when the fireworks really started.

They had cordoned and closed off roads and the place was seriously packed. See, some are even sitting on the divider to catch a glimpse of the fireworks display.

We wanted to hop up on this wall, which Ruiming managed to get up. Again happening to me, I was in a dress. So after trying almost every laughable ideas to get me on the top of the wall (even as Peter thigh was a stool), in front of all the other people that area, I gave up.

Ruiming was sad that I really couldnt come up to accompany him on the wall.

Well, it proved to be fine cos I walked away from the wall to capture nearer fireworks pictures anyway. And I realise one thing it wasnt easy taking pictures of fireworks. You have to be timely (with respect to the camera's shutter speed, lag time and the 'opening' of each fireworks 'flower'), quick and steady (afterawhile your arms get damn tired holding it up).

The display was about 20mins and it was really cute listening to everyone going 'wow' and 'wha' at some points, in chorus whenever it was a great spectacle. It was like some bonding session, especially when after that, the whole crowd was clapping! Imagine that. Haha

I pretty much took maybe 10o over pictures and have deleted probably 70 of them since they didnt come out nice. Here you see are the already 'better ones' haha.

It was a pretty relaxed day I must say :) Will be looking forward to the CNY ones! :)
